PAST EVENT NOTES:
Faith Movie Night on Wednesday, August 20th was a great time. We fired up the grill, cooked some home-grown zucchini, and even had brownie sundaes for dessert. The "official tour" of Jennifer's house broke up once the guys found the full size arcade game in the first floor spare room. The feature film of the night was "Into the Wild," which provoked a discussion on man's desire to leave the world behind, countered by his ultimate need for others.
On Thursday, August 7th, we will be having a "Grill the Priest" event in lieu of our normal college age Bible study session at St. Pius X parish in Appleton. Join us for mass at 5:30pm as usual and then stay for food and an informative question and answer session with St. Pius pastor, Fr. Tom Farrell. Bring any questions you have about the Catholic faith and be prepared to learn!
This Thursday and Friday (August 7 & 8) St Therese Parish in Appleton will host Father Clement Machado from Rome. He is a priest of the Society of Our Lady of the most holy Trinity (same order as Father Corapi). Confessions and quiet prayer start at 4pm and Mass is at 7pm (with blessing of Sacramentals and individuals to follow).
Thursday, August 14th 7:00pm, Young Adult Eucharistic Holy Hour, Sacred Heart in Sherwood (Hwy 55/114). Join area young adults for prayer and reflection with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Deacon Tim Brandt will lead us in prayer and benediction. We will conclude at 8:00pm, followed by a social in the Sacred Heart School Commons. It's
Saint Maximillian Kolbe's feast day!
Also, there's going to be some general craziness at the
Frassati Olympics on the
Saturday, August 16th.
The first Shrine and Wine tour was a great success. Fourteen people were gracious enough to share a beautiful Sunday with us, and in return got some history, wine tasting, a delicious dinner (complete with hot pink fruit drinks – what’s up with that?), and plenty of prayer. There was also a surprise two for one special! We not only got to see the shrine at Robinsonville, but we arrived at the St. Norbert Abbey in time to visit the National Shrine of St. Joseph. Woohoo! Hope to see the crew and many more on our next trip to LaCrosse on September 27th!
Football on Saturday was great too. CYE brought their crew and it got a little crazy. I didn't expect to see a Lambeau Leap into the bushes. That could not have felt good.
